Bankomat, the leading provider of cash handling services in Sweden, is extending its partnership with Iver. The new three-year agreement covers workplace services based on Microsoft 365, as well as an enhanced hybrid IT architecture.
Bankomat provides cash services to consumers, businesses, associations and banks. People can withdraw and deposit cash at their well-known blue cash machines. Bankomat's machines are located in almost 600 places across Sweden. Around 250 of the machines also offer travel currency.
Since 2019, Iver has been Bankomat's IT partner, responsible for deliveries including server operations, networking, support, workplace services and IT security. This partnership has evolved from traditional IT operations to a modern, standardised Microsoft 365 workplace platform, incorporating Intune-based client management and enhanced security solutions.
“Bankomat’s cash infrastructure is vital to society. Availability, secure systems and resilience are central requirements. Working alongside Iver, we have developed our IT environment in stages to meet the needs of both the business and external demands,” says Pier Lundmark, Bankomat’s CIO.
In recent years, Bankomat has undergone several major changes. Since 2025, it has managed the transport of cash to and from its own machines. The company has also established six local offices around the country, operating the cash transports from these locations. These changes have increased the demand for availability, security and monitoring in the IT environment.
As part of this development, Bankomat is modernising its digital workplace and security platform to create a more standardised IT environment that will facilitate efficient operations and management.
At the same time, the company maintains a hybrid IT architecture in which critical systems are operated in separate, controlled environments. For instance, applications for cash handling and valuables transport are managed in Iver’s isolated OpenShift solution, which runs on Cleura’s Swedish cloud infrastructure. This enhances robustness and isolates business-critical functions.
“Organisations with socially critical functions need to combine high security with the ability to benefit from modern platforms. For Bankomat, this means building a stable IT environment that can withstand disruptions and support the business in the long term. We carry out this work in close collaboration,” says Niclas Karlsson, SVP and Business Area Manager for Financial Services & Fintech at Iver.
